Pakistan, Egypt Urge Early US-Iran Deal as Final Text Nears Completion

(MENAFN) Pakistan and Egypt have voiced strong support for the ongoing diplomatic drive to defuse tensions between Washington and Tehran, expressing shared optimism that a comprehensive agreement could be sealed without delay.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation late Friday with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, with both officials welcoming what their governments characterized as encouraging momentum in the diplomatic process, according to Pakistan's Foreign Ministry.

The two ministers reviewed recent Middle East developments and expressed confidence that sustained engagement between the US and Iran could yield a timely and constructive outcome. They pledged to maintain close communication on shared regional concerns going forward.

The phone call came hours after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that both Washington and Tehran had agreed on the "final text" of a pact to bring the conflict to a close. Pakistan has served as a key mediator in the standoff, having brokered an earlier ceasefire on April 8 that halted the war which erupted on Feb. 28.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump disclosed Thursday that he had called off imminent airstrikes on Iran, asserting that a deal was within reach. Reports subsequently emerged suggesting that US Vice President JD Vance may travel to Europe to formally sign the possible agreement on Iran's behalf.
